Bußgeldbescheid (fine): what it means and the two-week deadline
A Bußgeldbescheid is an official fine for an administrative offence — most often in traffic (speeding, red light, parking). It can include points in Flensburg or a driving ban. It often follows a hearing form (Anhörungsbogen) you received earlier.
Deadline
An objection must be filed within two weeks of delivery (Zustellung). After that the fine becomes final.
Who sends it
The fines office (Bußgeldstelle) of a city, district or the police.
What to look for
- What you are accused of, when and where.
- The fine plus fees and expenses (Gebühren und Auslagen).
- Points or a driving ban (Fahrverbot), if any.
- Payment details and the case number (Aktenzeichen).
- The notice on how to object (Rechtsbehelfsbelehrung).
What you usually need to do
- Check the details: vehicle, date, place and driver.
- If you accept it: pay the total with the case number as reference.
- If you disagree: file an objection (Einspruch) in writing.
- Driving ban: read carefully when it starts — sometimes you can choose the start within a period.
Where to get help
With points or a driving ban, a traffic lawyer (Fachanwalt für Verkehrsrecht) can check the case; legal expenses insurance may cover it.
